About Us

SPARK – Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre

The SPARK Program is about igniting connection and lighting the way for families and young people to build strong, supportive relationships. Many families face challenges such as feeling isolated, stressed, or unsure where to turn. SPARK responds by creating personalised pathways that bring people into safe, welcoming spaces where they can belong, build relationships, and grow stronger together.

Our program offers a community-led response that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and builds a more connected community. At its heart, SPARK is person-centred and co-designed with participants. We link families to local services, peer support groups, and social activities — and when gaps exist, we work with partners or establish new groups to fill those missing links. These connections reduce isolation, build resilience, and ease reliance on crisis systems, leading to greater wellbeing for individuals and a healthier, more connected community over time.

SPARK stands for:

S – Support: Helping families and young people access guidance, community, and resources.

P – Participation: Engaging in activities, programs, and opportunities that matter.

A – ARK: A safe place to connect, belong, and grow together.

R – Relationships: Building meaningful connections with peers, mentors, and the community.

K – Knowledge: Learning skills, strategies, and confidence to thrive.

Who’s here to help?

Link Workers are the first friendly face families meet. They reach out, offer a warm welcome, and ensure each person feels supported from the start. Working one-on-one, Link Workers walk alongside individuals and families to create person-directed wellbeing plans — designed around what matters most to them. These plans connect families with activities, groups, and services that suit their unique needs and aspirations. At the same time, Link Workers strengthen community partnerships so families have access to a wide, coordinated network of support.

Wellbeing Coordinator – Oversees the program to make sure it’s inclusive, effective, and sustainable, supporting both families and the team behind SPARK.

SPARK is more than a program — it’s an ARK, a safe place where families can connect, belong, and grow. Whether through play, friendships, or support, SPARK helps reduce isolation, build confidence, and create stronger, healthier communities.
